Frequently asked questions
General
Yes. SONO wipes are specifically formulated to be alcohol-free, bleach-free, and solvent-free, making them compatible with major brands like GE, Philips, Siemens, and Samsung. They are designed to disinfect without causing "pitting" or degradation of the sensitive acoustic lens and materials of the transducers. (always consult your users manual)
Many common hospital disinfectants contain high concentrations of solvents, alcohol or bleach, which can dry out and crack the acoustic lens (delamination) or cause the transducer cables to become brittle over time. SONO wipes are formulated with a proprietary, solvent-free, alcohol-free, and bleach-free solution that has been extensively compatibility-tested by major OEMs. Using SONO helps maintain your equipment's warranty and prevents thousands of dollars in avoidable repair costs
SONO wipes are classified as a Low-Level Disinfectant (LLD). According to the Spaulding Classification, they are the ideal solution for "non-critical" medical devices—those that come into contact with intact skin but not mucous membranes. This includes abdominal transducers, stethoscopes, BP cuffs, and ultrasound consoles. For "semi-critical" devices (like endocavity probes), SONO wipes are used as the essential first step for pre-cleaning before high-level disinfection (HLD).
Yes. SONO wipes are EPA-registered (Reg #6836-340-89018) and included on EPA List N, meaning they are approved for use against SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19). Our formula is proven to kill 47 different pathogens, including resistant strains like MRSA, HIV, and Staph. By using a single, broad-spectrum wipe for your non-critical surfaces, you simplify your clinic’s workflow while ensuring a high standard of patient safety
